LEaC Shield · Installation and commissioning

A coordinated path from assessment to operation.

A domestic water system is shared infrastructure. A useful installation plan names the work, the people responsible, the access arrangements and the checks needed before equipment is handed over for ongoing service.

Confirm the scope before scheduling work.

Start with the assessed building and the agreed system arrangement. Identify the equipment to be supplied, its proposed location and the plumbing and electrical connections included in the installation scope. Existing drawings and the general LEaC Shield overview help the discussion; the final arrangement is specific to the property.

The schedule should account for access, equipment delivery, contractor coordination and any interruption that must be communicated to occupants. The site does not promise a standard installation duration or that every building can avoid a water interruption.

Give each part of the work a named owner.

ProShield coordinates scheduling, equipment delivery, mounting and installation. Qualified plumbing and electrical contractors complete the required connections. ProShield also coordinates configuration, commissioning and final operational checks.

The building team provides access to work areas and the required water, power and building systems. Confirm who can authorize access and operational changes, and who will communicate the schedule inside the building.

  • ProShield: installation coordination and operational-check coordination
  • Qualified trades: required plumbing and electrical connections
  • Building team: authorized access, building systems and resident coordination
  • LEaC Shield: equipment and ongoing corrosion-control program servicing

Treat commissioning as part of the installation.

Commissioning is the transition from fitted equipment to a system prepared for its intended operation. Ask the project team how configuration and final operational checks will be documented, what outstanding items would prevent handover and who confirms that those items are complete.

The checks and operating requirements depend on the equipment and property-specific scope. A public checklist cannot replace the manufacturer’s instructions, qualified-trade requirements or the actual commissioning record.

Make the handover usable for the next operator.

Before the project is closed out, ask for a clear record of the installed arrangement, service contacts, responsibilities and any remaining actions. A manager who joins later should be able to find who handles a service question and how an active water event is reported.

  • Equipment location and the confirmed systems included
  • Completed checks and outstanding work, if any
  • LEaC Shield service contact and the agreed service arrangement
  • Building access contact and the response path for a water event

Keep installation and ongoing service distinct.

ProShield’s installation role and LEaC Shield’s ongoing servicing are separate parts of the program. Review both scopes before approval so that treatment supply, equipment maintenance and owner responsibilities are understood.

An active leak still requires an appropriate response and repair. Program equipment does not remove the building’s responsibility to respond to water, maintain access or complete necessary plumbing work.

Questions people ask

Who makes the plumbing and electrical connections?

Qualified plumbing and electrical contractors complete the required connections. ProShield coordinates the installation, configuration, commissioning and final operational checks.

Will installation interrupt the building’s water?

That depends on the assessed arrangement and required connections. Confirm any interruption, access requirements and occupant communication in the property-specific installation plan.

Who maintains the equipment after installation?

LEaC Shield provides ongoing program servicing and equipment maintenance under its separate agreement. The building should review that scope alongside the installation proposal.
