Building watch
Monitoring is a watch list, not a magic panel.
Some buildings watch flow at the incoming service. Some watch rooms. Both fail if the alert goes to an inbox nobody opens on Saturday.
Pick the question the system must answer.
‘Did overnight flow exceed a baseline?’ is different from ‘Is the mechanical room wet?’ Do not buy a dashboard that answers neither.
Connect it to a person.
Alarms need a roster. A property manager, an on-call operator, or a named board role. A shared email is not a roster.
Use events to improve isolation.
A monitoring hit should produce a better shutoff map the next time, not only a restoration invoice.
Questions people ask
Is this the same as LEaC Shield?
No. Monitoring watches for water. LEaC Shield is a corrosion-control program for suitable domestic piping. They can coexist. They are not substitutes.
Can we monitor without sensors in suites?
Sometimes at the building service. Suite events may still be invisible at that scale. The plan should say so.
