A sprinkler drip is a life-safety device first, a leak second.
Corridor heads protect the building. A drip, a knock, or a painted head is not a DIY plumbing job. The fire system contractor and the corporation have to be in the loop.
Do not hang a bucket and leave it.
Notify the manager or security immediately. A slow drip can become a full discharge. Occupants should not unscrew or cap a head.
Keep the area clear.
Water on corridor floors is a slip hazard. If a head has opened fully, get people away and call 911 if the building’s fire service has not already been triggered.
Investigation after the system is stable.
Once the fire contractor has the device under control, the corporation may still need a record of where water travelled into suites or shafts.
