Shutoff
An automatic valve is a response tool. Design who it protects.
Whole-suite or whole-building shutoffs can limit damage when a sensor sees water. They also take water away from people who did not leak. That trade has to be explicit.
Name the zone.
A washer closet valve is not a riser valve. A building main is not a suite stop. Draw the zone before anyone prices hardware.
Name the humans.
Who gets the alert, who can restore water, and what happens at 2 a.m. are part of the plan. Hardware without that list becomes a locked-out building.
Still find the leak.
Shutoff limits loss. It does not tell you which fitting failed. Investigation remains the next call after the water is stopped.

Can a board require shutoffs in every suite?
