First call
Call for safety and water first. Paperwork second.
People freeze because they are afraid of calling the wrong number. Active water has a simple order. The corporation’s documents can wait until people are safe and the flow is addressed.
If someone is in danger, call 911.
Electrical water, a collapsing ceiling, or a person who cannot get out is not a ProShield-first event.
Then the building and the water line.
Call the property manager or the after-hours board contact, and call ProShield at +1 (825) 782-8351 if water is still arriving. One person should own the access keys.
Insurers after the event is under control.
The corporation and the unit owner may each have policies. They will ask for times, photos, and a finding. That is easier to give after the water is no longer spreading.
Questions people ask
Should I call my own plumber or the building’s plumber?
Start with the building contact so two contractors are not opening the same wall. If water is active, call the response line rather than shopping.
Do I call the insurer before ProShield?
Not while water is moving. Get the event controlled, then make the insurance calls with facts.
