Insulation
Wet insulation is a reservoir. It will keep raining indoors.
Occupants think the leak continues because the pipe is still open. Often the pipe is closed and the batt is draining. Both still need a record.
Do not assume a new drip is a new hole.
Ask when the line was isolated and whether the batt was left in place.
Soft, heavy ceiling drywall is a safety issue.
Stay out from under it. Call.
Insulation that stayed wet needs a source note even if it is ‘only old water’.
Old water started somewhere.
Questions people ask
Should we cut a hole to dry it?
A controlled opening after the source is known can help. Random holes to ‘let it breathe’ are not a plan.
Can wet insulation cause odour later?
Yes. That is a drying and materials question once the water is stopped.
