A washer hose failure is fast. The paper trail should be equally clear.
Rubber supply hoses can split without much warning. In a stacked building the water often finds the suite below before anyone sees the laundry closet.
Kill power and water if you can reach them safely.
Unplug the machine only if the floor and outlet are not standing in water. Close the hot and cold stops behind the washer.
If the closet is flooded, stay out and call. Do not step into water to save the machine.
Tell the building immediately.
The manager needs the time, the fixture, and whether water is still moving. The suite below needs the same facts, not a delayed apology.
A burst hose does not end the investigation.
It explains a lot of water. It does not automatically explain every stain two rooms away. Document the hose and let an investigator confirm the path if the damage spread.

They fail less often than old rubber hoses, but they are not a guarantee. Stops that actually close matter more during a failure.
