Fridge line

The fridge line is small. The damage is not.

A plastic ice-maker tube can split behind the fridge where nobody looks. Water runs under the floor and into the ceiling below long before the kitchen feels flooded.

Pull the fridge only if the floor is safe.

If you can see the stop, close it. Do not drag a loaded fridge across a wet, electrified floor.

Ice makers share a saddle or a tee with the sink.

Closing the wrong valve can confuse the next person. Leave a note on the fridge.

Look at the kick space and the suite below.

A wet toe-kick plus a downstairs stain during ice production is a strong pattern.

Questions people ask

Should I keep making ice to test it?

No. Isolate the line and leave it off.

Is this the building’s pipe?

Usually it is a suite fixture line. The path into another suite is still a building event.
