Order of work
Stop the water. Name the water. Then dry what is left.
Fans on a still-open leak feel productive. They are not. Safety drying can start while investigation is booked, as long as nobody pretends the source is known.
If it is still dripping, drying is not the first motion.
Isolation and investigation are.
If the pipe is closed and the batt is wet, dry with a record.
Say that the source was isolated at a given time.
Do not throw away the wet materials before they are photographed.
The adjuster and the investigator may both need them.

Can fans run during the investigation?
If they do not hide the only wet pattern the investigator needs to see. Say so at the start of the visit.
