Odour after
The drip can stop and the cavity can stay wet.
Odour a week later is often wet batt, pad, or paper. It can also be a leak that never actually stopped. Do not perfume it and close the file.
Ask whether the source was named and isolated.
If nobody named it, the smell may be new water.
Ask what was left in the ceiling or under the carpet.
Wet materials left in place keep smelling.
A new stain with the old smell is a new call.
Do not file it under ‘we already had a leak’.
